Peter Dyson enjoyed a successful career at Motorola, before deciding that it was time to realize his dream of transitioning into the music industry. A passionate and skilled drummer, and enthusiast of vintage drums and vintage sound equipment; he purchased Studio West in 2004, and with relentless drive and focus, set about turning it into the commercial and educational success story that it is today.
In 2006, The Recording Arts Center (TRAC) was launched, following two years of research, development and implementation. With an 8000 square foot state-of-the-art facility, Studio West and TRAC combine three recording studios and two large, fully equipped classrooms; with world class, accomplished instructors, educators and practitioners. Industry certified courses in music production, audio engineering, and electronic audio production are available, along with one-to-one personal instruction, summer camps, and after-school youth programs.
In addition to the bands and artists previously mentioned, Studio West routinely works with clients in film, television, and post-production. Film scores for “The Usual Suspects” and “The Cable Guy” were produced here, as well as sound design for major video game releases including Iron Man 2, Thor and Captain America. An interesting mix of post-production/voice-over clients have included John Cena, Richard Dreyfuss, Huey Lewis and Alan Arkin among many others.
